THE CABIN LAYOUT
In our concept we split the cabin into two sections:
- The common area near the entrance where passengers can choose to go during the flight
- Assigned group seating customized for passengers flying in groups, such as families, friends or business travelers

GUIDE SYSTEM FOR A MORE WELCOMING FEELING
According to our research, one of the most time consuming stages when the airplane is docked by the airport, is when the passengers tries to find their seat. Introducing digital seat signs for easier and more effective boarding
A NFC reader is located at the entrance to the lower deck
The passenger blips a NFC tag which is a bracelet or the bonus card for the flight company
A stripe in the roof lights up in a pre-chosen color and guides the passenger to their seat
A digital sign with their name lights up when arriving

THE COMMON AREA
Down is up
We wanted to give the feeling of being at the upper deck when being in the lower deck. This is a premium area and one of our goals was to give the passengers a premium experience even though you walk down.
Lucka
In the common area, the travelers can
relax under the “Lucka” (Swedish for “hatch”). Providing a sense of orientation of the outside world, the passengers can look up at the sky as it turns from day to night. A reflection of the sun projects from the roof and turns when the plane turns to give a realistic feeling of a Lucka.
The possibility of moving
One of the most common wishes from the people we interviewed was to have the possibility to stand up and being able to move somewhere during long flights. The common area allows the travelers to walk away from their group, sit down in the sofa to relax or stand up and chat with other travelers.
